A few days ago, I posted in Jewish genealogy portal on Facebook about our relatives who died in World War II in Latvia. Some wonderful people contacted me and did research. Reva and her husband, Joseph Arschon and their two children were shot in Rezekhne in 1941.
Leib Taitz and his wife and two children fled to the USSR. Leib was conscripted into the army and died in 1942 in combat. Eventually, his widow and children returned to Rezekhne. His daughter married had two children. I’m trying to find out if there were any grandchildren because her sons died already. Rolla, now called Rahil, after her grandmother, Rachel rubin Taitz, is still alive. She was born in 1937. I’m trying to find out if Issur, her brother ,ever married. I still do not know what happened to Leib’s brother, Zalman Peretz.

I have been in contact with the Jewish community of Rezekhne, Latvia, where our rubin ancestors lived. Michael and Sarah Rubin had a daughter Rachel who married Natali Taitz. They stayed in Rezekhne and had five children Toby Dietz was their daughter. Rachel died before World War II.
Her husband Naftali, son Zalman Peretz, daughter Reyva Taitz Arshon, son in law Joseph Arschon, grandchildren Deborah and Izzy were all shot at a gully near Rezekhne on the 15th of Tammuz, 1941. One daughter, Fannie, moved to Saint Petersburg before the war. She married and had one daughter, but her daughter never had children.Leib and his family fled to Russia before the Nazis arrived.
Leib was conscripted into the Russian army and died in combat in 1942. His widow and children eventually return to Rezekhne. His daughter is named Rachel, in honor of his mother. Rachel is now 87 or 88 and still lives in Rezekhne. She is a widow and her two sons passed away in the 1990s. I believe she has one grandchild who now lives in Israel. I have sent photographs of the Taitz family to the community center, and they will make copies to give to Rachel.

My researcher spoke to Rachel today and she is very excited to hear from us. I sent photos to the synagogue (Marina) and she will get them to Rachel. Her grandson Michail lives in Holon in Israel and he speaks English.
Also, Fanny was known in Russia as Fania Anatolievna Vorobeichik. Her daughter was Bronislava Vorobeichik. She is buried in Kiryat Ata in Israel.
Leib’s wife was
Reisa Mirjam nee Wargaftik
Anatoly Ceitlin’s wife is Rebecca
She lives in Israel with her 3 daughters
Rachel Rubin was the sister of my grandfather:she was my great aunt.
I emailed photos to Marina Sukolova at the Jewish Community Center in Rezekhne. She said she would give them to Rachile .
Today I called Misha and had a great conversation. He will get the photos to Rachile. His father was Alexander (Sasha) who lived in Moscow. Sasha was married to Maria who still lives in Moscow. Misha moved to Israel 3 years ago- he is now 28. He is an only child. His uncle was Anatoly (Tolya) who was married to Rebecca. They moved to Israel and have 3 daughters. Both Sasha and Tolya are deceased. Misha is close to his aunt and cousins. His grandfather, Mark Zeitlin, and his father Sasha were doctors. Misha is an English- Russian translator.
